Travel Information
Welcome to beautiful Lake Como! To help make your trip easy and stress-free, we’ve put together all the essentials: how to get to the area, transportation options, places to stay, and things to do while you’re here.
Getting to Lake Como
Most guests will fly into Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP). From there, you have several ways to reach the Lake Como area and the wedding venue in Laglio.
Private Car
Highly recommend this, especially if you’re traveling with luggage or arriving late.
These companies offer online booking and fixed prices:
-
Lake Como Transfers
-
Como Chauffeur Services
-
Lario Transfer
-
Taxi Como NCC
Pros: Stress-free, door-to-door, comfortable.
Cons: Most expensive option.
Taxi or Ride Apps
Taxis are available at Como stations and in major towns.
Recommended Apps
-
FreeNow (works like Uber and is widely used around Lake Como)
-
Uber Black (limited availability, but sometimes works in the Como area)
If staying in a small village, pre-booking is strongly recommended.
Train From MXP → Como
Route:
-
MXP Airport → Milano Centrale (Malpensa Express train)
-
Milano Centrale → Como S. Giovanni or Como Nord Lago (regional train)
Approx. time: 1.5–2 hours
Cost: ~€15–€20 total
Where to Buy Tickets
-
Malpensa Express website / machines
-
Trenitalia (regional trains)
-
Trenord (regional trains in Lombardy)
-
Trainline app (easy English interface)
Important: There is no train directly to Laglio, so from Como you will need:
🚕 Taxi,
🚗 Ride service (FreeNow app), or
🚐 Private transfer (most convenient).
Ferries & Boats
Ferries are great for exploring the lake, but they do NOT go directly to Laglio. The closest ferry stops are in larger towns (Como, Cernobbio, Menaggio, Bellagio, Varenna, etc.).
Important: You cannot reach the wedding venue by ferry.
Rent a Car
Renting a car gives you the most flexibility to explore Lake Como and the surrounding areas at your own pace. However, please be aware of ZTLs (Limited Traffic Zones) throughout many Italian towns — especially in Como, Bellagio, Menaggio, Varenna, and Milan. These restricted zones are camera-monitored and entering them without a permit can result in expensive fines. Always look for signs marked “ZTL” and avoid driving into historic centers unless your hotel has specifically registered your car for access.
Where to Stay
Laglio is a small, quiet village. Many guests may want to stay in nearby towns that offer more hotels, restaurants, ferries, and shops.
